//writer&director

Writer and director, Isa Totah, wrote Quarter to Three specifically for Ben Vereen after reading a news report about a family tragedy in Mr. Vereen’s life. Months later, he was honored to be on the set working with Mr. Vereen on this intimate project.

Isa started his career as an actor and writer working in political themed theater in San Francisco. His first play, Seeing Double, in which he acted and co-wrote, was awarded an Obie Award for it’s groundbreaking collaboration of Jewish and Arab artists. He later segued into filmmaking, something he’s wanted to do ever since he saw his first movie as a child.

His philosophy is telling stories that, foremost, entertain but also have something to say about life. After working with him, legendary casting director and producer Lou Digiaimo (Rain Man, The Godfather, Thelma and Louise, Gladiator) said this: “Isa is the most honest and genuine person I’ve worked with in my many years in the movie business. He is compassionate, determined and intelligent. As a director, he has great comedic timing that had the audience rolling in the aisles in laughter and a sense for drama that left not a dry eye in the house”
